What Happens if My SiteLock Scan Finds Something?
The time when a SiteLock scan detects something wrong with your website is the time that requires an immediate reaction in order to protect your site. A scan of the website may reflect on your SiteLock dashboard results, and underlined vulnerabilities or malware should be addressed immediately to protect your website from possible dangers.
When a scan is completed, you will see the results in your SiteLock dashboard. The Security Status and Security Summary would show if any security issues were detected during the scan. If any problems require action, you will be notified right away.
You must act immediately to ensure your website remains safe from attacks.
In this article, we will discuss:
Change Your Passwords
You may have been notified that malware was detected during a scan and was cleaned or removed. If malware is detected, you should change your passwords immediately. This includes any passwords associated with your hosting package (such as FTP passwords).
How to Change Your FTP Password
- Log in to your account manager via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
- Click Hosting on the left menu.
- If you only have a single hosting plan, proceed to Step 4. If you have multiple hosting plans, click Manage next to the hosting package you need to update.
- Select FTP Account Manager.
- Then click Change next to the User ID to update the password for that user. Repeat the steps for each user.
Update Applications and Plugins
Outdated applications and Plugins can leave your website vulnerable to attacks. If you were notified of any malware or vulnerabilities identified during a scan, check to make sure you have the up-to-date versions of all applications and Plugins installed on your website. Check out How Do I Access the Web Hosting Control Panel? to learn more about managing your hosting plan.
How to Locate the Hosting Control Panel
- Log in to your account manager via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
- Click Hosting Packages on the left menu.
- If you only have a single hosting plan, proceed to Step 4. If you have multiple hosting plans, click Manage next to the hosting package you need to update.
- The Hosting Control Panel will open.
Check Your Codes
Attackers are always coming up with new codes that may threaten your website. Even though all suspicious code is reviewed and added to the list of threats, it is important that you check your codes to see if anything changed that was not a result of a scan or a change you made yourself.
You may need your FTP credentials to use FTP. See the instructions above if you need to change your FTP password.
Review
Keeping your website safe is the need of the hour, and according to the scans provided by SiteLock, it would be greatly necessary to take action on all found issues as early as possible. In conclusion, changing passwords, updating applications and plugins, and checking your codes would be an excellent way of mitigating threats that could compromise your safety in the long run.
