Cloud Mail Upgrade FAQs

Important: This article answers questions that may arise during the upgrade to Cloud Mail.

What is the Email Upgrade?

We are excited to announce that all email users will soon receive a major email platform upgrade. This automatic upgrade will transfer your existing email boxes, aliases, folders, calendars, and contacts. This improved infrastructure promises increased stability and reliability thanks to its sleek, modern design and robust spam and virus protection while providing the cloud-based storage you need.

In this article, we will discuss:

What's New?

If you're a Hosting email user and use the services that come with your hosting package, you'll see a new, clean design and an upgraded experience with many new features you will enjoy, including:

  • Cloud-based access to manage your email from your favorite place.
  • Cloud-based drive storage to keep all your files in one place.

If you have Professional Mail or Professional Mail Plus, you'll notice a new, clean design and upgraded experience with many new features that you will love, as well as:

What's Changing?

In our effort to improve security and align with industry security standards, we will be discontinuing support for the following security protocols:

In addition to updated security protocols, your DNS will be changed when we begin your email upgrade. Please refer to Cloud Mail DNS Settings for your DNS records.

What actions do I need to take to prepare for my upgrade?

We do not expect this update to impact most users. However, it is important to review the action items below to ensure that there is no interruption to your services during this upgrade.

  • Double-check your Spam and Trash folders to make sure there is nothing you want to keep. These folders will NOT be migrated.
  • If your DNS is managed by another company, contact your DNS provider and update your DNS settings using the DNS settings provided in Cloud Mail DNS Settings.
  • Update your Mail Server Settings and enable TLS v1.2
  • Set SMTP Authentication to use Password/Plain authentication.
  • Please note that you may experience intermittent slowness or connectivity issues during this upgrade, which is to be expected.

Will my login be the same?

You will still be able to access your Professional Email the same way as before. However, instead of using your Username to log in, you will now be prompted to enter your full email address.

Will my Webmail Interface remain the same?

Your webmail interface will be updated to provide a modern and user-friendly webmail system that will provide a productive environment. Want to learn more about your new email? Watch this video.

Will I experience any downtime during this migration?

We are doing everything we can to minimize downtime and ensure you have access to your email; however, in order to successfully complete the migration for each user, there will be a short period of time in which access to Webmail may be limited.

Can I still use my third-party email application?

Yes, most popular email apps support TLS 1.2 and will continue to work with the new cloud email, though you will need to change settings for a secure server. Email apps that do not support TLS 1.2 will need to be upgraded.

Are there any issues specific to Apple device email apps?

When you update your DNS settings, ensure that authentication for SMTP is toggled on. You will no longer be able to use unsecure mail settings.

What should I do if I have issues with my email after the migration?

What is TLS 1.2?

TLS, or Transport Layer Security, is a widely adopted security protocol that provides privacy and data security for communications over the Internet. Some uses include TLS encrypting the communication between web applications and servers, such as web browsers loading a website or email applications interacting with mail servers. Our upgraded cloud email requires that mail applications support TLS 1.2

Review the list, as noted below, of Operating Systems that support TLS 1.2 (If you are using an older version, you will need to update to a newer version as listed below).
