How to Set Up FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

FTP, or File Transfer Protocol, is a simple way to move files between your computer and your website. You can use it to upload or download the files you need for your site. In this guide, you will learn how to set up FTP through your hosting account so you can easily manage and transfer your website files. If you are using tools like the Website Builder or File Manager, you can upload files directly through those, but setting up FTP gives you more control and flexibility when managing your hosting files.

Note:
  • If you are using the Website Builder or File Manager, you do not need to use FTP. In the Website Builder, you may upload files to your site by clicking the Publish button, and in the File Manager, you can do so by clicking the Upload button.
  • If you have a WordPress Hosting Package, it uses a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). For steps on how to use it, please visit How Do I Configure SFTP on My WordPress Hosting Package?
