Moving Files via the FTP

You can also move your website files to a new folder or directory via an FTP client. For this example, we’ll use FileZilla.

  1. Launch your FTP client (FileZilla) and establish a connection. For connection instructions, see the article: FTP: How to Connect Using an FTP Client.
  2. Locate and click the file or folder you want to move. You can do this from your desktop or from the Remote site section in FileZilla.
  3. Drag and drop the file or folder into its destination directory on the server.

You can now copy files from your local machine to the remote server or from the remote server back to your local machine.
