Powered By Network Solutions: File Management - Navigating File Manager

The File Manager is a powerful tool. This is where you'll find and effortlessly manage your website files and directories. There are several ways to access your website's files in its directory (also known as document root), depending on the hosting package in your Network Solutions account.

Access website files via the File Manager

Here are the steps to go to your File Manager.

  1. Log in to your https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
  2. Click Hosting on the left-hand menu.

    Note: On this page, you’ll see your hosting packages.
    • If you have only one package, click Manage to access its settings.
    • If you have multiple packages, each will be listed. Click Manage next to the one you want to open.

  3. Click File Manager on the left-hand side menu.

  4. On the right pane, select your website's folder. (For the primary domain, your website files are found in the public_html folder.)

  5. You will see your website's core files and folders. Within the File Manager, you can do the following actions:
    • Open directories by clicking the caret right icon.

    • Upload new files.

    • A pop-up window will appear. Click the Choose a file button to browse for the file you want to upload to your hosting server.

    • Add new files or folders by clicking on the +New button.

    • Select New Folder or New File from the menu.

    • Move files or folders to another location. (You can select multiple items to move.)

    • A pop-up window will appear. Select the new destination location and then click the Move Here button.

    • Enable the Show System Files or Richtext HTML Editor options by clicking the Settings button.

    • Search for files or folders.

    • View Details by selecting the file or folder and then clicking the vertical ellipsis icon on the right.

    • A pop-up will appear, showing your file or folder's details.

    • Rename a file or folder by selecting the file or folder and then clicking the vertical ellipsis icon on the right.

    • Enter the new filename in the textbox and hit Enter or click the check icon to save.

    • Change Permission of a file or folder by selecting the file or folder and then clicking the vertical ellipsis icon on the right.

    • You can also click the More button in the top menu and then click Change Permissions.

    • A pop-up window will appear. Update the file permissions by checking or unchecking permissions.

    • Delete a file or folder by selecting the file or folder and then clicking the vertical ellipsis icon on the right.

    • You can also click the Delete button in the top menu.

    • A pop-up will appear. Click the Yes, Continue button to confirm deletion.

 

Access Website Files via FTP

The FTP method is applicable to all Network Solutions hosting packages. We are going to use FileZilla as an example below, but you can use any FTP application you prefer. Make sure you have the correct FTP credentials for your hosting server.

  1. Launch your FTP client, FileZilla, and establish a connection.
  2. Once a successful connection is established, FileZilla will show two panes: Local Site and Remote Site.

    The Local Site section of FileZilla shows your computer files and folders.

    Local Site

    The Remote Site section of FileZilla contains your server's hosting files and is a representation of your File Manager.

    Remote Site

    The contents for each folder are displayed just below the Local Site and Remote Site sections.
