Simple SEO - Google Analytics

Overview

Google Analytics collects data from your website to make reports and provide insights into your business. It allows you to track information, including traffic and events statistics.

You can connect Google Analytics to your Simple SEO project to view your website traffic or goals with Simple SEO.

Note: For Google Analytics to measure your website, you must create an account.

In this article, we will discuss how to:

Connect Google Analytics to Simple SEO

To connect your Google Analytics account to Simple SEO, follow the steps below:

  1. Access your Simple SEO tool from within your Network Solutions® Account Manager.
  2. Within your Business Profile or SEO Settings, you will have an option to connect to Google Analytics.
  3. To connect your Google Analytics account, select the "I have a Google Analytics account" tile.

    Note: If you don’t have a Google Analytics account yet, you will need to create one.

  4. Next, provide access for the service account email. Click on the Copy icon under Step 1.

  5. Follow the steps in Adding Users to Google Analytics and make sure the email address you add is the email you copied in step 4. Also, make sure to set the permission to the Viewer role.
  6. Once you have provided access to your service account email, add your Google Analytics tracking identifier. To find your tracking identifier/Property ID, follow the steps in Find your Google tag ID.

  7. To verify your connection, click the Verify Connection button.

You will then see a banner on top that will notify you whether your Google Analytics account has been connected.

Access Google Analytics Reports

Once Google Analytics begins to receive data, reports will appear in your Simple SEO tool. To access Google Analytics Reports, follow the steps below:

  1. Access Simple SEO Tool from within your Network Solutions® Account Manager.
    1. If it is your first time accessing the Simple SEO tool, please check out Getting Started with Simple SEO for instructions.
  2. Go to the Results tab.

  3. Click on Google Analytics.

  4. Once you open your reports, you will see the following:
    • Traffic Acquisition Overview – This report is designed to help you understand where your website visitors come from. It will show where returning and new users come from.
      • Users in Last 30 Minutes – This shows the total number of users in the last 30 minutes per minute and the number of users in the last 30 minutes. It also shows the top countries users are visiting from.

      • New Users – In your reports, users are organized according to channel groupings. Channel Groupings refer to traffic sources, which help you check the performance of your traffic channels.

      • Sessions – This is a record of interactions when users visit your site. It initiates when a user opens your website and, by default, ends after 30 minutes of inactivity or when the user leaves your site.
      • Engaged Sessions – Sessions are considered as engaged when site visitors actively engage on your site for over 10 seconds, have a conversion, or have at least 2 screen or page views.

      • Lifetime Value – This shows the average revenue new users generate within the first 120 days. It helps you determine users who add value to your business in terms of revenue.
      • Google Organic Search Traffic – Displays landing pages associated with your Google Search Console property. To learn more about Google Search Console, check out Simple SEO - Google Search Console.
    • Events – This shows how often each event is triggered and how many users trigger each event on your website. This helps you make improvements to your users’ experience and boost conversions.

Note: You can see your full statistics in your Google Analytics account by clicking the See full stats in Google Analytics link.
