Update Account Information: Primary Contact Replacement, Email Address on File, Change of Domain Ownership

To update account information, such as replacing a primary contact or changing the email on file, you may need to complete a formal request. This guide, organized into collapsible sections, will walk you through these important update account information processes.

Important: Changing the name, organization, or email address of the account's Primary Contact or a domain's Registrant will trigger a mandatory 60-day transfer lock on your domain(s), as required by ICANN. This lock cannot be bypassed.

Change the Primary Contact

The Primary Contact acts as the Account Holder's legal representative and has complete authority to manage the account. If the current Primary Contact is unavailable or no longer with your business, you must submit a formal Primary Contact Replacement request.

Required Documents

First, you will need to collect all three of the following required documents:

  1. Full-Color Government-Issued Photo ID: A valid, unexpired, full-color photo ID for the individual requesting to become the new Primary Contact.
  2. Two Organization Documents: Choose any two of the following.
    • Utility Bill (dated within 90 days of submission)
    • Business License
    • Letter of Incorporation
    • A Tax Return or Tax ID Document
    Note:
    • The organization address on the above mentioned documents must match the address on file.
    • If you already have a User ID, you don't need to create a new one. If you have more than one user ID, you can merge them together. For more information, see How to Merge User IDs.

Once you have gathered the required documentation, please allow 24-48 hours for our team to review your request after submission. After the review, we will contact you to discuss the next steps of your request. Click the button below to begin.
