How to Activate Anti-Phishing Protection in Cloud Mail

Learn how to activate anti-phishing protection in Cloud Mail, as cybercriminals are getting better these days. Phishing is one of the most common traps cybercriminals use to solicit sensitive information, such as login credentials, credit card details, personal information, etc., by deceiving you into clicking a malicious link in a seemingly legitimate email. Their emails are carefully written, and the links and website look legitimate to lure you into providing information. To recognize phishing scams, see Identifying Spam, Phishing, & Virus Emails.

With Cloud Mail's Anti-phishing Protection, the links in your emails will be scanned to determine if they are safe or corrupt.

Important:
  • This article applies to customers with Cloud Mail. To determine your email version, see "How Do I Determine My Email Platform?".
  • The Anti-phishing Protection feature is only available to customers who purchase Business Email. If your email does not have the Anti-phishing Protection feature, you are using a hosting package email.

In this article, we will discuss:

After Setup Experience

After setting up Anti-phishing Protection in your account, all links in your email will be scanned to determine if they are safe to open. This is what will happen when you click links in your email.

  1. A pop-up will warn you that you are attempting to open a potentially insecure link.

  2. If you choose to open the link, Anti-phishing Protection will scan the web page to make sure you land on a secure page.
  3. If the link is determined to be phishing, there will be a pop-up advising you not to visit the page.
  4. If the link is deemed not phishing, you will be taken to the link destination.
