Recovering Deleted Emails in Cloud Mail with Lazy Expunge
The Lazy Expunge feature allows you to recover deleted messages or messages marked as spam that are deleted afterward in Cloud Mail. With this feature, you can retrieve deleted messages within 14 days after their deletion. After the 14-day window, the messages are permanently deleted and not recoverable.
Important: This article applies to customers with Cloud Mail. To determine your email version, see How Do I Determine My Email Platform?
Note: The Lazy Expunge feature is only available to customers who purchase Business Email. If your email is under a hosting package, you won't have this feature, and items removed from the trash folder can't be recovered.
How to Recover Messages
Follow these instructions to retrieve your deleted messages from Cloud Mail.
- Open a new window in your browser.
- In the address bar, type mail.<your domain name>.<your domain extension>
For example, if your domain is janesbagels and your domain extension is .com, you should type mail.janesbagels.com in the address bar. - Enter your login credentials on the login page.
- Click the Sign In button.
An additional page will appear if you have enabled 2-Step Verification. Enter the authentication data on this page. - On the left side of the Email page, click the horizontal ellipsis on the Trash folder.
- Select Recover Deleted Items.
- A pop-up appears. Select which messages you want to recover by clicking the box next to the messages, then click Move Selected Items.
Note: If the messages are not on this list, Customer Support will not be able to recover them.
- Create a new folder or select which folder you want to move the messages into, then click the Move button.
Your deleted messages have been recovered.
