Understanding and Managing Different Web Log Types

There are two types of Web Logs: Access Logs and Error Logs. Access Logs record visitors' information to your website, while Error Logs record errors produced by requests to your website. Learn how to access and manage web logs with the help of this guide.

Your Web Logs are disabled by default and need to be enabled before downloading.

Note: You can download the access logs that has all the recorded hit information that your website has received. These logs can be processed using an offline web analysis program of your choice. You can also download raw error logs, which provide information to assist you in dynamic script development.

How to Access and Manage Access Logs

Note: Your log files are in your /htdocs/log directory, which you can find by using an FTP client. First, you need to set up your FTP, then open the FTP client of your choice. The log files will contain entries for the previous 30 days of activity. Please note that your Access Log may fill up your disk space quickly if you have a busy website. You have the option to disable raw logs to save disk space or periodically clear out your logs.
  1. Log in to your account via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
  2. Once logged in, click Hosting on the left menu.

  3. If you have more than one hosting package, select the package you need to update. Then, click Manage. If you only have one hosting package, proceed to the next step.
  4. Scroll down to the Statistics section and select Raw Log Files.

  5. Scroll down and go to the Access Logs row. Here, you can Enable or Disable your Access Logs by clicking the radio button.

  6. Click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will see a green notification stating that your Access Logs service was successfully enabled or disabled.

 

How to Access and Manage Error Logs
