How to Keep WordPress Updated for Better Security and Performance

Updates are important and often necessary, especially for security and compatibility. An updated version of WordPress includes security patches, bug fixes, and new features for your website.

When a new version of WordPress is available, you'll receive a notification in your WordPress Dashboard.

To find out if there is a WordPress update, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
  2. Tap WordPress from the navigation menu.

  3. Scroll down to Launch WordPress Dashboard section and click Go.

  1. Log in to your WordPress account using your Username or Email Address and Password. In most cases, you will be redirected to your WordPress dashboard automatically.

  2. Click the Dashboard button, then select Updates to check if a new version of WordPress is available.

Note: If a message appears saying, An updated version of WordPress is available, it means there is a newer version of WordPress.

Updating to a Newer Version of WordPress

Follow these steps to update WordPress:

  1. Click the Dashboard button and tap Updates.
  2. If an update is available, then click the Update Now button.
  3. When the WordPress update has finished, a confirmation panel appears, saying, "You have updated WordPress to the most recent version."
Note: WordPress updates are important for maintaining security and performance. However, they can occasionally affect your website, depending on the compatibility of your current plugins and themes.
