How to Change Your MySQL Database Password

To enhance security, you can change your MySQL database password in your Network Solutions Account Manager. We suggest that you update your password regularly to keep yourself safe from hackers.

In this article, we will discuss:

What is a Strong MySQL Password?

A strong MySQL database password:

  • Must contain between 8 and 16 characters
  • Consist of at least one character from the following four categories:
    • uppercase characters
    • lowercase characters
    • numeric digit
    • non-alphanumeric characters (!@#$%^&*)
Note: Spaces and tabs are not allowed.

 

MySQL Password Change for Hosting

Follow the steps below to update your database password:

  1. Log into your Account Manager via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.

  2. Within your Web Hosting dashboard, scroll down Configurations, then select Database Manager. If you have multiple hosting packages, click Manage next to the one you want to update.

  3. Click the radio button for the Database Name you want to update, then click the Edit link.

    Note: If you select a WordPress database, you will not be able to edit the password within your Web Hosting Dashboard. To update your WordPress database password, check out the steps in How to Update the WordPress Database Password.

  4. Next, enter your new password next to the Password and Password Confirm fields. Hit OK >>.

  5. You will then see a green banner stating that your request has been submitted and that it may take 15 minutes before the changes are complete.

MySQL Password Reset for WordPress

Update your WordPress database password by following these steps:

  1. Log into your Account Manager via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.

  2. Within your WordPress Control Panel, scroll down to Configurations, then click Database Manager.

  3. Click the radio button for the Database Name to update, then hit the pencil icon.

  4. Next, enter your new password next to the Password and Password Confirm fields. Hit OK >>.

  5. You will then see a green banner stating that your request has been submitted and that it may take 15 minutes before the changes are complete.

Review

In your Network Solutions Account Manager, you can update your MySQL database password for security purposes. Regularly updating your password will keep your website from being hacked. Once you have successfully updated your Hosting or WordPress password, wait up to 15 minutes for the changes to take effect.
