How to add a database in Xcitium Backup

Dynamic websites rely on databases to store critical information such as user data, orders, and content updates. If your database isn’t included in your backup, you risk losing essential data during unexpected outages or security incidents. This guide will walk you through how to add a database in Xcitium Backup, so your website backup is complete, reliable, and fully protected. Whether you’re using MySQL or PostgreSQL, you’ll learn how to securely connect your database using standard database credentials or SSH options in just a few steps.

Note: This article applies only to Xcitium and CodeGuard customers who renewed on or after May 15, 2026. In this article, we will discuss:

Adding a database to a website backup

  1. Log in to your account via https://www.networksolutions.com/my-account/login.
  2. Click Security from the left navigation menu.

  3. Go to Website Backups, then tap Manage for the website that you would like to add a database.

  4. Tap Manage in the Manage Xcitium section to proceed.

  5. Tap Manage Backup to proceed.

  6. Alternatively, go to Backup in the left menu and click Backup Settings.

  7. Go to Database Options and choose whether you connect through Database or SSH:

    1. For the Database options field, enter the following information:
       
      • Database type: MySQL or PostgreSQL
      • Database host
      • Port
      • Database username
      • Database password
      • Database name
      • SSH mode
         
    2. For the SSH options field, enter the following information:
       
      • Host
      • Port
      • Username
      • Add the SSH public key to your authorized_keys file
     
    Note:
    • Port numbers are automatically set based on the selected Database type (MySQL or PostgreSQL).
    • If your site is hosted with another provider, verify and update the port settings as needed.
  8. Verify the details, then tap Test Connection to confirm it shows Test success. If the result is Test failed, review the information and test again.
