Frequently asked questions

Most transfers into Network Solutions take 5–7 business days after you approve the confirmation email. Some transfers may complete more quickly, depending on how fast your current registrar responds and whether all requirements are met.

You should do the following:

  • Make sure your domain was registered (or last transferred) more than 60 days ago.
  • Remove any locks or security settings at your current registrar.
  • Turn off domain privacy (make WHOIS public) so verification info is visible.
  • Request an authorization code (EPP code) from your current registrar.
  • Confirm you have access to the admin email account tied to the domain.

Once you start the process:

  • You’ll need to enter the authorization code in your Network Solutions account.
  • You’ll get one or more confirmation emails (from your current registrar and from Network Solutions) to the administrative or primary email on file. You need to approve/authorize via those emails.
  • If the administrative contact doesn’t respond within a certain timeframe (often two weeks for some steps), the transfer request may fail.

No — ICANN rules generally prevent transfers of domains that have been registered or transferred in the last 60 days, or have had certain changes (like contact info or registrant changes) in that period.

In most cases no — DNS and hosting settings stay intact throughout the transfer, so your site and email should remain online. (You may experience delays only if you change nameservers or make DNS edits during or right after the transfer.)

If you're moving a domain between two Network Solutions accounts, a Change of Registrant process applies. That may trigger a 60-day lock period before the domain can be transferred again.

Some common issues:

  • Domain is still locked at the current registrar.
  • Authorization (EPP) code is incorrect or not yet issued.
  • Administrative contact email is outdated or doesn’t receive verification email.
  • Domain was registered/transferred less than 60 days ago, or a recent WHOIS/contact update imposes a new lock.
