  1. How can I ensure my transfer is successful?

    Transferring to Network Solutions from another Domain Name Service Provider
    If you are transferring to Network Solutions, check the Administrative Contact email address associated with this domain in the WHOIS record. If the email address shown is not a current, valid email address, then you will not be able to respond and approve the domain transfer. Please visit the current service provider's web site to update this email address before you submit your transfer request.

    An authorization email will be sent to the Administrative Contact listed in the current service provider's WHOIS, to authorize your transfer request.

    Transferring between Network Solutions Accounts
    If you are transferring from one Network Solutions account to another, you can help ensure the transfer is successful by verifying that the email address is accurate. An email will be sent to the Primary Contact for authorization of the transfer request.

    NOTE: A domain name must be registered for greater than 60 days, be paid in full, and not on lock or hold in order to be transferred.

  2. Why would a domain name not be available for transfer?

    There are several instances in which a domain name would not be available for transfer to Network Solutions. These include:

    • The domain name is already registered with Network Solutions. To transfer a domain name from one Network Solutions account to another, you must transfer one domain name at a time.
    • The domain name is not registered with any domain name service provider. In this situation, you can purchase the domain name with Network Solutions by accessing the Network Solutions home page.
    • The domain name is in a "lock" or "hold" status at the Registry. You'll need to contact your current registrar to determine why the domain name is locked or held and remove the lock or hold prior to submitting a transfer request with Network Solutions.
    • The domain name extension you are requesting to transfer to Network Solutions is not eligible for the online process. At this time the automated online process is available for .com, .net, .org, .biz, .bz, .cc, .cn, .info, .mobi, .name, tw, .tv, .us.com, .uk.com, .eu.com, .de.com, .la, .br.com, .cn.com, .gb.com, .gb.net, .hu.com, .jpn.com, .kr.com, .no.com, .qc.com, .ru.com, .sa.com, .se.com, .se.net, .uk.net, .uy.com, .za.com, and .us domain names. If you have any other domain name you wish to transfer to Network Solutions, please contact customer support.
    • The domain name entered is invalid. If the domain name is not in a valid format, e.g. domainname.com, the transfer process can't proceed. You can easily correct a domain name entered incorrectly by clicking on Search Again and entering the corrected domain name.
    • The domain name is already the subject of a transfer request.
    • The premium domain name you are requesting to transfer to Network Solutions is not eligible for transfer at this time. If you have any questions, please contact customer support.
  3. Can I purchase additional services to be used with the domain during the Change Registrar process?

    If you are transferring an available domain to Network Solutions, you may purchase additional services at this time. Just click the continue button to add services to your transfer. If you are transferring between Network Solutions accounts, you must wait until the transfer is complete prior to purchasing any additional services. Just log into your account to add services.

  4. What happens after I submit the transfer between Network Solutions accounts request?

    Once you've submitted the Transfer between Network Solutions Accounts request, an e-mail is sent to the Network Solutions Account Holder or Primary Contact for the domain name requesting authorization to transfer the domain name registration to your account. The Network Solutions Account Holder/Primary Contact has 14 days to authorize the transfer. Once Network Solutions receives authorization from the Account Holder/Primary Contact, Network Solutions moves the domain name into your account.

  5. How will I know if my transfer between Network Solutions accounts request is successful?

    Network Solutions will notify, via email, the new Network Solutions Account Holder and the current Network Solutions Account Holder or Primary Contact of the final result of the Transfer Between Network Solutions Accounts request.

  6. Why would a domain name not be available for transfer between Network Solutions accounts?

    There are several instances in which a domain name would not be available for transfer to your account. These include:

    • The domain name is not registered with any registrar. In this situation, you can register the domain name through Network Solutions by accessing the Network Solutions home page.
    • The domain name is not registered with Network Solutions. If you want to transfer the domain name registration from the current Registrar to Network Solutions, please go to Transfer Your Domains tab.
    • The domain name is in a "lock" status. This occurs primarily when the domain name is the subject of a dispute. The current Registrant will need to resolve the issue and have the lock removed before the domain name can be transferred between Network Solutions accounts.
    • The domain name is in a "special" status. This occurs primarily when there are payment issues related to the domain name. The current Registrant will need to resolve the issue and have the status changed before the domain name can be transferred between Network Solutions accounts.
    • The domain name entered is invalid. If the domain name is not in a valid format, e.g. domainname.com, the Transfer Between Network Solutions Accounts process cannot proceed. You can easily correct a domain name entered incorrectly by clicking on the "Search Again" button on the Domain Names Available to Transfer Between Accounts page and entering the correct domain name.
    • The domain name is the subject of a pending Transfer Between Network Solutions Accounts or Transfer to Network Solutions request.
  7. Can I transfer country specific domain names to another person or organization?

    .AR.COM, .BIZ, .BR.COM, .BZ, .CC, .CN, .CN.COM, .COM, .CX, .DE.COM, .EU.COM, .GB.COM, .GB.NET, .GD, .GS, .HN, .HU.COM, .INFO, .JPN.COM, .KR.COM, .LA, .MOBI, .MS, .NET, .NO.COM, .ORG, .QC.COM, .RU.COM, .SA.COM, .SE.COM, .SE.NET, .TC, .TV, .TW, .UK.COM, .UK.NET, .US.COM, .UY.COM, .VG, .WS, and the .ZA.COM extensions can be transferred between Network Solutions accounts. All other extensions cannot be transferred.

  8. Can I change the domain name servers while a transfer is in process?

    All Domain Name Server (DNS) changes must be completed before you request a transfer to Network Solutions®. Changes cannot be made to the domain name server while the transfer is in process.
