What is EmDash?

EmDash is an open-source CMS built by Cloudflare using TypeScript and Astro. It gives developers a modern alternative to traditional WordPress setups while still providing an approachable admin experience for people managing content day to day. 

There’s no EmDash software license fee, and because you host it on your own VPS, you stay in control of your server environment, configuration, and access. 

EmDash is currently in beta and under active development, making it especially appealing for developers and teams interested in exploring a newer approach to content management. 

How does one-click EmDash deployment work? 

Get the first EmDash site running on your VPS without manually installing the application yourself.

Step 1: Choose your plan

Select an EmDash VPS plan. EmDash requires at least 2 vCPUs, so eligible configurations start with NVMe 4.

Step 2: We provision your server

Network Solutions provisions your VPS and installs EmDash for your first site using a pre-configured image. 

Step 3: Start building and publishing

Access the EmDash admin panel to manage content, or connect supported AI tools through EmDash’s built-in MCP server. You retain full root access to manage the server and customize your setup.
The one-click deployment applies to your first EmDash site. Additional sites can be installed manually using your root access.

Moving from WordPress? 

EmDash can import posts, pages, media, and taxonomies from a WordPress WXR export using the WordPress REST API and WordPress.com. 

Your WordPress theme and site design do not automatically carry over as part of the migration. Recreating or porting the design requires additional work and may involve AI-agent assistance.

EmDash hosting combines a self-managed Network Solutions VPS with EmDash pre-installed for your first site. Network Solutions provides and maintains the VPS infrastructure, while you control the operating system, server configuration, applications, access, and security. 

When you purchase an eligible EmDash VPS plan through this page, your server is provisioned with EmDash already installed for your first site. You keep full root access and can configure the server and application after deployment.
