Step 1: Check whether you’re eligible for a domain transfer 

• The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires the domain purchased to be 60 days old before being eligible for a domain transfer. 
• If your Wix domain has expired, you still have a 30-day grace period to begin transferring it without extra fees.  
• If your Wix domain is past the 30-day grace period, you can still retrieve and transfer it. However, you will need to pay extra fees to access your domain. 
• Specific Wix domain extensions don’t include a grace period, and you’ll need to pay a fee to transfer these domains. Domains that don’t have a grace period include:

Step 2: Make sure the admin email address is correct

Step 3: Turn off private registration 

When transferring a domain, the new registrar must verify your domain ownership by checking a public record, such as a WHOIS lookup. Private registration is a Wix feature that obfuscates owner records in a WHOIS domain lookup. To start your domain transfer, you need to disable Wix’s private registration through the following steps: 

1. Go to Domains in your Wix account manager. 
2. Click the Domain Actions option on the domain you plan to transfer. 
3. Select the Edit contact info option. 
4. Choose the Show more option next to the Privacy protection section. 
5. Click Turn off privacy protection and confirm the action in the pop-up menu.  

Step 4: Initiate the domain transfer from Wix to Network Solutions

1. Input your username and password to log in to your Wix Account. 
2. Select Domains in your Wix account. 
3. Click the Domain Actions (three dots icon) button on your desired domain. 
4. Choose the Transfer away from Wix option. 
5. Click Transfer Domain.  
6. Click I Still Want to Transfer in the following pop-up menu. 
7. Wix will file an authorization code (EPP code) to your registered email address, so make sure Wix emails aren’t blocked in your email settings.

Step 5: Complete the domain transfer on Network Solutions 

1. Initiate a domain transfer on our website. Enter the domain and click Get Started. 
2. Review your cart and select Continue to checkout. 
3. Provide your contact, account, and billing information. After the payment, we will send you a confirmation link. Authorize the transfer. 
4. Access our platform’s account manager and input the EPP code for your domain.

Step 7: Update your DNS records 

Domain name servers (DNS) link your domain name to the internet and its associated services, like websites and professional email accounts. By adjusting your nameservers, you can set up your services to work with third-party providers. 

If you need assistance with updating your DNS records, contact customer support. Please note that propagation will take up to 48 hours, and during this time, you will lose the ability to use services such as the website and email. It’s wise to inform your customers or clients ahead of time so they can anticipate the downtime.
